Indiana State Senate, District 22
Sherry Shipley is running to become the next State Senator for Indiana District 22. Sherry is a Hoosier native, born and raised in Cass County. She graduated from Pioneer High School, where she received an outstanding public education from great teachers. Sherry went on and earned her B.A. in English, a Masters’ degree in Educational Media and Technology, and a PhD in Industrial Technology Management from Indiana State University.
Sherry is currently a Dean at Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette, where she oversees the Schools of Business, Computing and Informatics, Education, and Public and Social Services. Sherry has always remained quite active in the community as a former National Education Association (NEA) president, a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, former president of Jefferson High School Booster Club and, a United Way Born Learning volunteer.
Sherry is ready to expand upon her passion for public education as she prepares to flip this state senate seat and begin to implement the progressive agenda that most Hoosiers need and want like creating more jobs in the renewable energy sector, transitioning toward Medicare for All, and of course, properly funding the ailing public education system in Indiana.
