Ross grew up on a farm in Jennings County. He attended public school there and graduated in 1988. After high school he attended Tulane University, earning a degree in Political Economy in 1992. He came home to Indiana to attend the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis and received his law degree in 1994.

Since graduating from law school and passing the bar in 1995 he has practiced law in Indiana. He maintains his own law practice in Indianapolis. Ross has never run for public office but as a Hoosier, business owner and married father of three children, He has watched for too long a state legislature in Indiana that is out of touch with the needs of working people and families. While Hoosiers struggle with stagnant wages, crumbling infrastructure and embattled public schools, those who are elected to serve the people seem more concerned with pleasing lobbyists and helping their friends and donors than solving problems for the people.

Ross is focused on support for public schools and public school teachers, which are under attack in Indiana. Ross will fight for labor and supports a living wage for everyone who works in Indiana. Rather than supporting policies that raise wages and improve the lives of working people, Indiana has been doing its best to destroy organized labor with its destructive “Right to Work” law and attacks on collective bargaining. Ross would work hard to make Indiana a place where workers are respected and wages, not just jobs, are the true measure of a successful economy. As an attorney in Indiana for over 20 years, Ross knows first hand the failures of the criminal justice system and he will not be afraid to address the systemic racism that permeates across courthouses and police stations. Ross will want to see a society whose goal is to seek racial justice and to reject a culture of intolerance. Ross has also pledged to not accept gifts of any kinds from lobbyists.
