Erica was born in NC, has always lived in NC, and calls Alamance County home. She lives in a 100-year-old farmhouse. I am the Firm Manager for The Paynter Law Firm and teach at Guilford College and Meredith College. I am an MBA candidate at ECU and have a Master’s of Music from Appalachian State, a paralegal certificate from Meredith, and a B.S. in Piano from Campbell University.

As a law firm manager, she was responsible for the firm’s budget, strategic planning, human resources, and IT/IS needs. She has also owned and operated her own small businesses and was previously Associate Director of a non-profit conservatory of music for kids. She is familiar with business and financial operations and understands the needs of small and family-owned businesses. Additionally, as an educator, she understands and shares the passion of our teachers and strongly believe in the need for access to quality, affordable education and job skills training. For years, she has worked with children in the foster care system, hosted orphans and exchange students and is a member of the NAACP.

One of her primary platform issues is equal access to quality, affordable education. Many of our current legislators have introduced and/or voted for legislation that is destroying and segregating our public schools. They have intentionally underfunded our public schools and teachers, discriminated against our citizens with bills like HB 2, hurt businesses, and stripped away long-standing beneficial protections afforded to our citizens by repealing acts like the Racial Justice Act and the Access to Civil Justice Act. This must stop. Additionally, NC has made national news as a result of racial and political gerrymandering and the intentional suppression of the voices of citizens. Once elected, she will vote for and support fair districting because we are all part of this country, and everyone deserves to have their voice heard and their vote counted equally. Additionally, she believes that citizens should have access to quality, affordable health care, job skills training, and wages that allow them to afford to lead the happy, healthy, productive lives that they deserve and desire
