Andru Volinsky is a New Hampshire father, husband, lawyer, and advocate running for re-election to the Executive Council in District Two, which spans from Keene to Concord to Dover/Rochester.

As a lawyer, Andru’s experience is diverse. He taught at the University of Tennessee School of Law before joining the New Hampshire Public Defender Program in 1982. In 1986, he successfully argued before the U. S. Supreme Court in the death penalty case Gray v. Mississippi. For the last 14 years, Andru has been a senior member of Bernstein Shur, a 100-lawyer regional law firm, leading the firm’s Manchester office. In addition to acting as general counsel to the firm and serving on its Board of Directors for many years, Andru’s practice focuses on commercial, employment, and trade secret litigation.

As part of Andru’s legal work, he’s represented school children and communities fighting to protect public funding for schools in the landmark Claremont School Funding suit. Andru represented the New Hampshire Secretary of State in the effort to regulate insurance risk pools, which led to the return of over $100 million to property taxpayers since 2012. The New Hampshire Retirement Security Coalition is another client Andru works within an effort to protect public workers’ pensions.
