Cal Cunningham is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, a former state legislator, and father of two. He was raised in the small town of Lexington, where he learned the value of public service, hard work, and integrity. At 27, he took those values to the State Senate, where I fought for smaller class sizes, higher teacher pay, and landmark clean air legislation. After 9/11, he joined the Army Reserve and served three tours of duty, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has also served his community and neighbors in other ways, including helping grow an environmental company, performing legal work on behalf of workers exposed to hazards on the job, and serving on Governor Roy Cooper’s Crime Commission. Now, he is running for U.S. Senate to take on the corruption in Washington that prevents us from making progress on the most important issues of our time like lowering the cost of prescription drugs and raising wages.
